Rev. Dada J. P. Vaswani speaks on “Formula for Prosperity”
The evening of 30th July, witnessed the highlight of the celebrations for Dada J. P. Vaswani’s 91st birthday. It was Dada’s public talk in English on, “Formula for Prosperity: How to Thrive in a Challenging Economy.”
The current challenging economic environment made this a much welcomed topic. Just as the skies opened after the much awaited monsoons, bringing relief; so did the droplets of wisdom from Dada’s lips, bring about hope and succour.
The mood was set for the evening by the initial inaugurating kirtan and bhajans. Dr. Ganesh Natarajan, Global CEO of Zensar Technologies graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The Oscar winning song, ‘Jai Ho’ formed the base of a rousing felicitation and greeting to Dada for his birthday. ‘Jai Ho’, glory to Dada; sang out each one vociferously from the thousands who were present.
Dr. Ganesh Natarajan regaled the audience with his wit and wisdom. He laid the blame of the present dire circumstances to human greed. He emphasized that we need to rediscover the basic values of humanity, such as, humility, love for one another, working for the common weal.
An inspiring movie was shown, depicting true prosperity which surpasses consumerism and material wealth.
Dada felicitated Dr. Natarajan with the traditional coconut and shawl. The evening also saw the release of four books – Formula for Prosperity, Nearer My God To Thee, The Terror Within and Does God Have Favourites?
Dada greeted everyone in fellowship and brotherhood, unity and peace. He spoke a few words with reverence on his Master, Sadhu Vaswani.
On the topic of Prosperity, Dada said, everyone, individuals and nations, is keen and eager for it. They all question – How long will this difficult period last? When will Goddess Laxmi smile on us again?
According to Dada, the dichotomy was that we are surrounded by abundance, yet we live in poverty. The provisions gifted by trees, rivers, the Sun are not used enough, due to lack of faith.
We are all children of One Father, God. But we have not laid claim to our heritage and share of prosperity because our approach is not in the spirit of faith, love and devotion.
We lack child-like trust and hence are burdened with anxiety, which keeps us away from abundance.
Dada assured us that God wants everyone to be prosperous and happy, but for that we must follow 4 important laws –
1. God helps those who help themselves.
Give up indolence and ideal pursuits. Be active and co-operate with the laws of God.
2. God helps those who help others.
This should become a part of our daily routine, with no thought of our comfort and convenience. If everyone would take this mantra, “Can I help you?”, Pune would indeed become a wonderful place.
3. Blessed are those who are honest and straightforward in their dealings with others; they will be reckoned the true children of God.
It is possible to live without corruption, even in these difficult times, but it will take time and determination.
4. Make God your senior partner.
God should not be just a word. We should experience God. God and man are companions in this adventure of life.
Dada ended his invigorating talk with an offer no one could refuse. He said, “Leave all your burdens behind, over here. After you leave, I will come and sweep the floor and take all the burdens far away, so that they never disturb you again.” With this assurance in their hearts, each one left with a wealth of peace and prosperity in their hearts.
